The long running hit AMC show "Mad Men" will come to its grand finale this Sunday, May 17, with Episode 14 of Season 7, titled "Person to Person."

According to an article on iDigital Times, Don Draper has seen love and loss throughout this decade long span that started in the early '60s and ran right up until the present in the '70s. If the first episode of this second half of Season 7 is an indicator of anything, then you will know all too well how Don (Jon Hamm) is going to handle the prospect of losing Betty (January Jones).

In the previous episode, the "Mad Men" audience finally learned the fate of Betty (Draper) Francis. After a fall that broke her rib, doctors learn she had terminal lung cancer and only about nine months to live. The emotional despair of the episode weighed heavily on Betty, who declined treatment, and on Sally.

But now, Don will have to face the possibility that he is about to be a single parent to their three kids, growing up without their mother when she inevitably succumbs to the disease.

Don's reaction earlier in the season to the news of his former mistress' death hit him hard. You can only imagine how he is going to handle the death of his first wife, who gave him his children.

The official synopsis for the finale episode from AMC is "The stories of Don Draper, his family and his coworkers come to an end in the series finale."

During the TCA panel for the show's six core characters and creator Matthew Weiner, as reported by Variety, Jon Hamm expressed the obvious sadness with the shows concluding episodes.

"There's no version of this ending that is not super-painful for me," Hamm said with a gesture to his fellow panel members, "mostly because of these people and this person. They've been the single constant in my creative life for the last decade. That's kind of tough."

Weiner also weighed in.

"The show's become so much more concentrated on these (six) characters. There's not much more room for digression," Weiner said. "We didn't want to leave anything on the floor in the writers' room. So organically it became a thing where every one of these episodes became the end of the show."

The finale will air Sunday at 10 p.m.
