In the newest trailer for the highly-anticipated game Batman: Arkham Knights, a high-tech rifle has been unveiled. This isn't the first time players have been introduced to the gun as the flap-gun is similar to the Disruptor weapons used in previous games, but it has been boosted with a number of new tricks.

In a blog's general discussion for the upcoming title, Rocksteady says:

"In our last trailer, All Who Follow You, we unveiled a new gadget in Batman's arsenal: The Disruptor. This new gadget has been tailored to meet the challenges of Gotham City's vast landscape through its long range capabilities, and provides options that bolster Batman's ability to control engagements like never before."

With three charges per engagement, players will have to carefully consider how they'd like to use the weapon and budget their charges. The gadget looks to be the gun that will end all guns as it offers four main uses:

  • Jamming enemies weapons when they attempt to fire at Batman
  • Exploding enemy weapons (by using two charges on the same weapon)
  • Rigging weapon crates to shock enemies who try to arm themselves
  • Tagging vehicles with tracking devices for Batmobile pursuits

More than the average rifle, it is extremely useful as means of preparation for upcoming encounters. The Disruptor can also be used to jam weapons that will enable you to launch the first attack or have enemies weapons turn on them.

As an additional tactical option, the Disruptor is outfitted with a long-range scope that allows Batman to survey greater distances than ever before. Batman will be able to assess what's happening within the City with precision and accuracy.

If you want more from The Disruptor, players can opt to upgrade to unlock a number of additional features that enables players to have greater control and game options.

Rocksteady posted this Disruptor GIF being used in action that includes a preview of its sniper function.
