Jaden Smith, son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, might suit up as Static Shock.

The former star of “The Walking Dead,” Tyler James Williams, may have spilled the beans in an interview with Flicks and the City recently. This rumor has actually been around since October, but there has been no confirmation from either Smith or Warner Bros. about it, until Williams leaked the information to the media.

When Williams pointed out that “there aren’t a lot of young, black superheroes,” some people from the crowd shouted to him, “Static Shock!” and “Spider-Man!” The young actor only responded, “I do not know what you are talking about. But, yeah, no. It is great to see ‘Static Shock’ is happening with Jaden.”

Williams’ “revelation” that Smith is going to be part of “Static Shock” must not be treated as an actual confirmation, considering that he is not directly involved with the DC project in the first place. However, his statements have reawakened the hype surrounding “Static Shock” and have proven that the upcoming web series has not been set aside and is still in active development.

Screen Rant reported that Smith was actually not the most popular choice for the “Static Shock” role. His previous movie project with M. Night Shyamalan, “After Earth,” which he starred in with his father, got a lot of negative reviews due to his lack-luster acting, according to Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite the bad critique on his acting skills, Screen Rant noticed that the young Smith still managed to land roles in movies, which his father produced.

“Static Shock” is a live-action web series that is being developed by Warner Bros. with Reginald Hudlin, the producer from “Django Unchained.” The titular DC superhero, Static, whose real name is Virgil Hawkins, was originally created by Dwayne McDuffie, John Paul Leon, and Robert L. Washington III for Milestone Comics in 1993.

Comic Book explained that "Static Shock" aimed to put more light on "African-American creators and characters." As the hero’s name implies, he gets his superpowers from electricity sources.

If the rumors of Smith being cast for “Static Shock” turn out to be true, then he would be the third member of the Smith family to be part of the DC Universe. Will was selected for Deadshot in the upcoming DC blockbuster, “Suicide Squad,” while his mother is among the mainstay cast members for hit DC TV series, “Gotham,” as Fish Mooney.
