Brooklyn rapper and former "America's Best Dance Crew" judge Lil Mama released the music video to her newest single "Sausage" and received mixed reactions from social media users on Twitter, Yahoo! Music reports.

E! News describes the song and music video as a '90s-inspired piece that promotes safe sex. In the song, Lil Mama raps, "Eggs, bacon, grits (sausage!) / you better use a condom if you taking that (sausage!)"

She also channels a number of '90s looks and rap flows from artists such as Mary J. Blige, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Kelis, Beyonce, and Missy Elliot, and mixed the looks and raps with current hip-hop musical styles.

The Boombox describes the "Sausage" music video as a sequel to her 2007 breakout hit "Lip Gloss' because the "Sausage" storyline and music video concept for "Sausage" is similar to "Lip Gloss."

"Sausage" features Lil Mama, her background dancers and her younger generation dance crew performing synchronized choreography as she raps on a Brooklyn street.

The music video debuted on Worldstar Hip Hop on Friday, May 29, and some people have shown support for the video while others slammed the video for its lack of originality and incorporating too many throwback themes.

Boombox reports that some social media users accused Lil Mama of not paying homage to the original Sausage Movement founders, which consists of high school girls rapping to the chorus that Lil Mama uses in the "Sausage" single.
