"Prison Break" stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell might appear in a Fox remake of the hit TV series.

The limited TV show will follow a standalone storyline and will have only 12 episodes, according to TV Line.

No specific details regarding the show’s plot have been revealed and it remains unknown whether or not Purcell and Miller will be back, but they are more than willing to be part of the show once more, Deadline reported.

Based on the series that the actors are currently part of, “The Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow,” both of which are hit TV shows based on DC source materials, it appears that they will have their work schedules pretty much in-sync. Miller plays the role of Captain Cold, while Purcell was cast for Heat Wave, both of them villains in their own right.

Paul Scheuring, the creator of “Prison Break” and the show runner of the short-lived series on ABC, “Zero Hour,” is also looking forward to the reboot, together with executive producers Dawn Parouse and Marty Adelstein who have also worked on the original series.

In fact, Scheuring reportedly already has a storyline in mind. Of course, as the title entails, there will be yet another prison escape – one that focuses on the Scofield brothers once again. According to Deadline, this time around, Lincoln might be the one who will climb mountains just to help his younger brother, Michael, break out of prison. Plus, they might also be joined by a third lead character.

More specific details have been kept under wraps, as fans have expected. However, they will be delighted to know that the members of the original show’s cast will be reprising their roles in cameo appearances.

Apparently, Fox has been itching to bring back “Prison Break.” Gary Newman, the chairman of Fox TV Group, revealed during the 2015 Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, which was held in Pasadena in January, that they will bring the show back “in a heartbeat.” However, he did state that, at the time, Fox was not working on a “Prison Break” reboot.

A lot of TV series, despite having good plots, have been cancelled recently, but the industry of serialized television has continued to grow. Remaking “Prison Break,” which was one of the most highly rated TV shows during its tenure on the small screen, just might be a huge success for the network.
