Mophie makes fantastic battery solutions for tablets and smartphones, but they're not content. They announced their newest product, the Space Pack, at CES 2014 this week. The Space Pack is a novel solution that addresses the growing storage and battery life needs of iPhone owners. Compatible with the iPhone 5 and 5s the case not only protects and charges your iPhone, but doubles its storage as well. Mophie has killed off three birds with one stone all, in a package that harder increase the length and thickness of your iPhone.

The slider style case will start shipping on Mar. 14. Sadly, iPhone 5c owners have been left in the lurch... in fact, very few accessories are specifically made for the iPhone 5c. Or they are too ugly to consider buying. Anyways, the Space Pack comes in 16GB and 32GB storage allotments. The former model will retail for $149.95 and the latter at $179.95. While a 64GB version of the iPhone 5s exists, it's not a hot seller. Mophie probably decided that is was in their best interests to forgo a 64GB case.

No doubt about it, the Space Pack case is a premium product at a premium price. The "Apple" doesn't fall far from the tree. It's also going to be an amazingly useful product, but should it even need to exist in the first place? Smartphone makers, especially Apple Inc., don't like to offer expandable storage in their products. Some users like this all-in-one, integrated approach. Either they don't ever come close to using up the allotted space or they don't like to deal with add-ons. Other users take the opposite approach. They think the the exclusion of expandable storage is an attack on their personal liberties. Really though, all devices should be expandable and or cheaper storage options in 2013. But as long as smartphones keep selling at a good rate what incentive do companies have to change? Thankfully, companies like Mophie exist to tackle user complaints and address their needs.

Now potential buyers have the option of saving money by purchasing the 16GB iPhone 5s and pairing it with their choice of Space Packs. They extra 100 to 200 dollars they saved can wisely be put towards AppleCare+ ($99.00) or and a screen protector.

Don't want to get a Space Pack? Well, Mophie makes other fantastic, easy-to-use battery solutions like the Juice Pack (straw not included). The Juice Pack is custom fit for smartphones like the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy SIII/S4, and iPhone 4 and up. The cases sell really well and have prices that put their competitors to shame.
