The maddening riddle that "unravels the greater purpose of Vincent and Catherine's destiny, as two people together" will be on full display during Season 3 of "Beauty and the Beast," which premieres Thursday night on the CW Network.

Costar Jay Ryan (Vincent) revealed as much during a recent far-ranging interview with TVLine, where he also hints his character finds himself at a crossroads much of this season as it relates to the question of who he will be and what kind of life he will live.

"That's what Vincent is kind of pining for, that normalcy in life, becoming part of the status quo and thinking that he's going to enjoy that," he said. "But he soon realizes that the people who are around him, the ones he has been the protector of in a way, are feeling a little empty without this excitement and risk in their lives. Everyone's in this slump while Vincent is on the up."

It also isn't long before the characters find themselves face to face with yet another threat that could easily change everything. According to TVLine, this time the enemy comes in the form of a "hybird of a human and something of the supernatural variety."

TV Guide previously reported costar Kristen Kreuk (Catherine) recently said that Catherine and Vincent would grow closer together. At least, at the beginning of the season.

"It will happen very quickly and it sets the stage for the season, [which is] about their relationship moving forward and what it will take for them to get either a wedding or whatever they want," she said.

But before the couple can have any true chance of entering the realm of happily ever after, they first have to learn how to live with one another. Kreuk also hints that it could soon be an issue for the two.

"It brings up stuff for Vincent," she added. "It's outside of his logical, conscious mind and more of a primitive [issue]. They have to deal with that and how they define their relationship if it's not in the context of bad guys. How do they exist? Can they be normal and will they be fulfilled that way?"
