Group C action will continue in Day 6 of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada on Friday.

Switzerland vs. Ecuador

Switzerland and Ecuador will look to keep their chances of advancing to the Round-of-16 alive when they collide at the BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada.

Switzerland opened their campaign with a 1-0 loss to defending world champions Japan on Monday, while Ecuador took a humiliating 6-0 defeat to Cameroon.

Switzerland are tipped to advance to the next round before the tournament started, but they need to win against Ecuador in order to keep their hopes alive.

If they win against Ecuador, Switzerland will still need to score a victory against Cameroon in order to take the second spot in Group C, which will give them an automatic ticket to the knockout stages.

Switzerland coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg told The Province that their players know the importance of taking full three points against Ecuador on Friday.

"We're in the situation where we need the points," Voss-Tecklenburg said. "We have a goal. We want to make it through the group phase. We want to have a fast-paced game with lots of opportunities for goals, so we can gain the goals that we need."

Japan vs. Cameroon

Meanwhile, Japan will continue their title defense when they take on Cameroon in the main game of the day at the BC Place Stadium.

The Japanese are considered favorite heading into the match, but Cameroon are expected to go all out as they are oozing with confidence following their 6-0 win in their opener against Ecuador.

Japanese veteran midfielder Homare Sawa admitted in an interview with Yahoo Sports that they cannot be complacent despite being tagged as favorites because they know Cameroon have improved a lot.

Forward Shinobu Ohno also admitted that there is an added weight on their shoulders because all eyes are on them because they are the defending world champions.

"I feel a lot of difference from 2011, a lot of people are now watching our matches," Ohno said. "We do feel the pressure but we're trying to convert it into something positive and joyful."
