Miley Cyrus is using her popularity to bring attention to causes like those of the transgender community.

The singer announced Monday on her Twitter and Instagram accounts that she is partnering with Instagram to launch #InstaPride.

#InstaPride is a series of photos that will feature the stories of various members of the transgender community over a time period of two weeks, reports MTV News.

To kick off the series, the "We Can't Stop" singer posted three photos for the first story of her photo series, for which she serves as photographer. That story belongs to 19-year-old Leo Sheng from Michigan, who has spent a year in transition.

“I can’t remember the last time I’ve been in a room with so much love, pride and respect for everyone’s journeys,” Sheng said of his photoshoot with Cyrus. “I hope that my portrait can inspire those who have the ability to share their own stories to find their voices.”

With the recent much publicized introduction of Caitlyn Jenner, Cyrus’ announcement comes at a time when a lot more people are talking about issues concerning gender expansion.

Cyrus is no stranger to speaking out for members of the LBGT community. She founded the Happy Hippie Foundation, which supports homeless and LGBT youth.

The singer recently spoke out about her own issues with gender and sexuality, revealing to Paper Magazine that when it comes to sexual exploration she is “open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age.”

She also revealed that at the age of 14, while she was still in the "Hannah Montana" phase of her career, she told her mother she loved women like she loved boys.

“I don't relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t need to have my partner relate to boy or girl” she said.
