Monday's "The Bachelorette" episode was filled with many surprises.

Kaitlyn Bristowe made a decision to sleep with a man she is "dating" far too early and immediately felt guilty and worried that he'd tell the other men. You cannot get anymore "real" on reality television than that.

She has cause to worry. Nick Viall has a history of kissing and telling, reports People magazine.

On Monday's "The Bachelorette," Kaitlyn picked Nick as the first man to get a one-on-one date with her following the Rose Ceremony, which annoyed the rest of the men.

Nick has done well to ignore the horde of men wishing for his death and focus on his relationship with Kaitlyn. His strategy is working. He's been open, carefree, fun and easy to talk to.

Kaitlyn and Nick's date starts out typically. The pair strolled through the streets of Dublin, Ireland. They paused now and again to kiss.

When the couple returned from their date, they could not keep their hands off each other. They ended up finishing their date in Kaitlyn's suite, making out on the hotel couch before retiring to the bedroom away from cameras, but not away from their microphone packs. Viewers could hear everything that was happening, right down to the passionate kissing and moans.

Kaitlyn had sex with Nick, and she nearly fell to pieces with guilt.

Also in the episode, the painful conversation Kaitlyn experienced with Ian last week continued. Fans may remember that he called her "shallow" and said that she's a "surface-level" person. He went on and on about his Princeton degree and how "deep" he is in comparison. The real issue was that he felt jaded Kaitlyn was not attracted to him.

The former Princeton track star shamed her for kissing other guys but proved himself a hypocrite when he told the cameras that he "has a lot of sex."

Kaitlyn showed class in her response to Ian's verbal attack. She calmly said that she was offended and disagreed with his belief that she is shallow.

"I just don't think she's nearly as complex as I am. I'm too deep a thinker -- I'm too self-aware," Ian said on his way out. "I'm very different from every single person that's here. I went to Princeton [and] Deerfield and that's what I have to offer. I'm an interesting guy that's had a lot of different experiences. I'm not lame like the other guys."

Viewers may have hoped Ian was finished, but he wasn't. He continued in the car, "Way glad to be out of there. ... I'm being punished for being an intellectual. I feel like I'm destined to be the Bachelor. ... If I was made Bachelor, I think they would come out of the woodworks [sic], man, I think they'd be like, 'Oh, sh*t, I want to go out with that guy, he's so deep.' "

And then, his final words, "Oh man, I need to have sex."

Adiós, Ian.

Josh and Justin also got the boot.

"The Bachelorette" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
