Saldana, whose been in the news lately discussing her marriage and life as a new mother, posted a photo to her Instagram account on Tuesday of her sitting in a trailer getting ready to begin shooting the upcoming "Star Trek" film.

The actress has appeared as USS Enterprise crew member Nyota Uhura in the film franchise along with Quinto and "Into the Woods" star Chris Pine.

Saldana is popular among science fiction fans for her portrayal of various strong female fantasy characters. The star also played the alien Neytiri in James Cameron's "Avatar" and most recently Gamora in "The Guardians of the Galaxy," both of which are set to also be huge franchises.

"You just gravitate naturally to what your heart yearns for," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "I grew up in a very science fiction-driven household. It was odd for me to grow up and go out in the world and not see other women going crazy for science fiction."

Quinto posted a photo on his own Instagram of him getting into character as Spock. The actor can be seen with the beloved character's haircut and eyebrows already in place.

The actor also told fans to help support the late Leonard Nimoy's son in his Kickstarter campaign, as reported by Entertainment Weekly, to make a documentary about the legendary actor, who played Spock in the original franchise.

The film, which is set to be released summer 2016, will reportedly be based on a plot line made popular by the original franchise, Quinto told Variety.

"I think the five-year mission will be a part of this next film in some way," Quinto told the trade publication. "We're coming up on the 50th anniversary of one of the most iconic sci-fi series in entertainment history so it's inherently an ongoing story. But I do think that we'll feel some sense of evolution in these characters that's been building through the first few films."
