With all of the serious injury risks and intense pressure involved with cheerleading, many people have started to question whether it is even worth it.

Oakland Raiders cheerleaders, known as "Raiderettes," are also among those who are unhappy with the conditions of cheerleading and one of the women decided to put her foot down. Lacy T, who released a statement through her attorney, is fed up with the low wages and says that the cheerleaders have been forced to maintain a very strict body weight or else they could lose a paycheck.

"I love being a Raiderette, but someone has to stand up for all of the women of the NFL who work so hard for the fans and the teams," Lacy T. said. "I hope cheerleaders across the NFL will step forward to join me in demanding respect and fair compensation."

Lacy T told the San Francisco Chronicle that she is a stay-at-home mother and that "every dollar out of my pocket is noticed. Furthermore, the team is not even paying her what she received back in college.

"I've been dancing for 16 years, and I was paid more for dancing in college than I am as a pro cheerleader," she said.

One person who commented on the San Francisco Chronicle article pointed out that the salary wouldn't even cover a ticket into the stadium if one of these cheerleads wanted to buy a ticket. "Seems only fair that if you work for the Raiders you should be able to afford to go to one of [their] games," the person wrote. "At this wage you'd never be able to pay, what, $100 a seat. Why anybody pays that kind of money to watch boys chase a ball around is beyond me."
