Sam Smith will not be taking on the theme song for "Spectre" after long rumors suggested it.

The singer-songwriter denied the rumors on an appearance with Capital FM radio.

Smith told the radio station, "People seem to think I'm doing it but I have no idea what's going on. I'm being deadly serious. I think I would know by now. I heard Ellie Goulding was going to do it, it's definitely not me."

Over the past few weeks, Smith seemed to be the big favorite, especially since he has become a favorite of the U.K. and he had recently won the top prize Grammy.

Goulding is recognized around the world, especially after her breakout with "Lights." However, there have been very few rumors about her working on the film.

The singer to "Spectre" will follow the tough act that is Adele's song "Skyfall," which was not only a critical hit but also won an Oscar. The song was also very popular among audiences as it was also catchy.

Adele was previously rumored to repeat but it is highly unlikely as the singer would have the pressure of topping her last song, which is something that many singers prefer not to do.

A number of singers have been rumored including Ed Sheeran, who ruled out singing the song in December, Lana Del Rey, who has become a favorite for films including "Big Eyes" and "the Great Gatsby," and Rita Ora.

"Spectre" is slated to tell the story of "007, who receives a cryptic message his past and must uncover a sinister organization. Meanwhile M must battle political forces to keep the secret service alive."

The movie stars Daniel Craig in his fourth outing as Bond, Oscar winner Christoph Waltz as the unknown villain, Monica Bellucci, Léa Seydoux and Stephanie Sigman as the Bond girls and Ralph Fiennes as the new M. The movie also stars Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw and is set to open on Nov. 6.
