Businessman and former president of Mexico, Vicente Fox, said Donald Trump is an "idiot" for insulting Mexican immigrants in the United States.

TMZ published a video of the former president speaking in Spanish.

"He's acted like an idiot. ... I don't know how he's made so much money. He doesn't deserve it," he said.

Trump criticized Mexican immigrants while discussing U.S. immigration policy last month, calling them "rapists and criminals" who are "flooding the U.S. like water."

People say Trump's comments were insensitive and racist toward the Latino community, according to The Hill.

"As a man of business to another man of business, he has made a mistake, a very stupid mistake," Fox said.

Several businesses cut ties with Trump following his remarks.

Both Univision and NBC stopped broadcasting the Miss USA pageant since Trump is a co-owner of the ceremony. The show lost more than 4 million viewers this year as a result.

"As punishment he should donate all that money to resolve the immigration problem," Fox said, stating Trump is ignorant about Mexico and its culture.

"He doesn't truly know Mexico. He should get to know it and what the Mexican people are about."

Celebrity chef José Andrés is among the many people who cut ties with Trump following his racist comments. He will no longer open a restaurant in Trump's upcoming luxury hotel in Washington, D.C.

"Donald Trump's recent statements disparaging immigrants make it impossible for my company and I to move forward with opening a successful Spanish restaurant," Andrés told the Washington Post.

"More than half my team is Hispanic, as are many of our guests. ... And, as a proud Spanish immigrant and recently nationalized myself, I believe that every human being deserves respect, regardless of immigration status."

Other corporations that have cut ties with Trump include Macy's and NASCAR.

Meanwhile, the business mogul has climbed to No. 2 on the presidential poll for 2016 elections.
