Fans of the Samsung Galaxy series can finally rejoice -- the debut date is imminent, and the long-awaited upgrade is finally available!

The International Business Times is reporting that the confirmations of these release dates are coming, not from the techno-ratti, but from Samsung itself. Amongst the confirmations that Samsung has put forth:

  • larger display size
  • new design
  • a 5.2-inch QHD display, next-generation quad-core processor, 16MP camera, Android 4.4 KitKat, a brand new TouchWiz user interface, and more

The launch, then, will take place in March and will officially be released in April... which was around the same time that the Samsung Galaxy S4 was released last year.

Meanwhile, according to GottaBeMobile, the technology that can, and will, be offered in the new upgrade is astounding. And the technology is not just limited to what's on the inside, in the processor -- but what's on the outside, in the design. "Samsung has been working with a range of companies to produce polycarbonate and aluminium technology. This emphasises Samsung's goal in transforming the Samsung Galaxy S5 in becoming a premium or high-end product. Many reports also hinted that it will sport a unibody metal design, though some contend that it may have a curved body similar to the Samsung Galaxy R. Analysts think that Samsung will stick to the traditional approach," reports the site.

Given the disappointing sales of the SmartWatch and -- to a lesser extent -- the Galaxy Note 3, it would be absolutely essential for Samsung to recover with the S5. In addition, given the recent troubles that the company is having with Apple, it's even more important that they recover from their losses.

Will you be checking out the new Samsung phones, or will you be sticking with the iPhone?
