Prince Royce is about to release his first English language album, on July 24, and the 26-year-old singer is ready to show off a side of him fans haven't seen.

In an interview with The New York Times, the Bronx-born "Stand By Me" singer discussed his upcoming album, "Double Vision, which he has been promoting on Instagram over the last few weeks.

The bachata singer has enjoyed a successful career, but with "Double Vision" he will be making his long-desired crossover into mainstream English music, which artist's before him have attempted to do, but few have succeeded.

"It's not as easy as it sounds," the singer said about having to record bachata in English. "Plus it's a very sensitive situation right now. Core fans want to see me sing bachata -- 'Royce is singing in English! I'm not buying it!'"

The singer also credits fellow Dominican artist and legendary musician Juan Luis Guerra, who he was raised listening to, with inspiring him to bring versatility to his album.

"All my other albums have some English music," he said. "I got that idea from Juan Luis Guerra. He has merengue, he has bachata, he has pop-leaning songs. I recorded 105 songs -- ballads, dance records, EDM, straight-up urban, Enrique type of vibe, Ricky Martin type of vibe. It had to make sense in English, though. It's not the same as doing bachata."

The singer told Billboard, who released an exclusive premiere of the album's title track, about the long creative process of his much anticipated release.

"It was something that was always kind of brewing inside me," he said.

"'Man, I wish one day I could do an album in English and kind of show this other side of me.' I think back then maybe I wouldn't have been ready. I think that now, as far as the creative, the sound, I'm much more solid in my head as far as what direction I want to go. and I got the opportunity with the record label and the team to kind of go for it. So that's what we're doing now, and we'll see what happens."

After the album release, Royce will be hitting the road with singer Ariana Grande until the end of the summer. He credits this with giving him necessary exposure.

"There's going to be a new audience there that's going to find out about Prince Royce for the first time," he said. "It should be something different, and that's what I look forward do."
