Wednesday’s chance to make big money playing Powerball is here. And since no one won the grand prize on Saturday -- when the winning numbers were: 27, 29, 34, 41, and 44, and the Powerball was 2 -- all that money has rolled over and is now at $100 million with a cash value of $63.2 million.

There were 397,609 regular winners and $5,800,188 in non-jackpot money was won.

There are actually nine ways to play Powerball. Although the odds will likely change in October, currently there is a 1 in 175,223,510.00 chance of winning the grand prize and a 1 in 5,153,632.65 chance of winning $1,000,000.

The odds of winning are slim, but people do win. The main thing a Powerball player has to do, outside of checking the numbers, is hold on to the ticket.

Right now someone who purchased a Powerball ticket in Elk Grove, California, is a millionaire but that lucky person has yet to come forward to claim the prize.

As reported by KCRA News, the Powerball ticket worth $1.7 million was purchased at a Safeway store on 5201 Laguna Blvd. For selling the winning ticket, the Safeway store received a retailer bonus of $8,569. The ticket matched all five numbers, only lacking the Powerball number.

The California Lottery advises that the winner, once he or she realizes their fortune, should sign the back of his or her ticket in ink right away, and then keep it in a safe place before visiting any of the nine Lottery district offices around the area to claim the money.

California Powerball winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. After that time lapses the money will be redirected to California public schools.
