The man charged with being responsible for shooting up Lil Wayne's tour bus in Atlanta last April is hinting that he was recruited by Birdman to do the job.

According to TMZ, Jimmy Winfrey claimed in newly released court documents that he shouldn't now be the only one locked behind bars, when it was the Cash Money Records boss' "financial dispute" with Wayne that sparked the shooting.

With that, Winfrey added, "Birdman should be 'held liable as a party to the crime.'"

Wayne's bus was repeatedly fired upon four months ago as he left a nightclub following a performance at a local venue. No one was reported injured.

From day one, Birdman has denied any involvement and recently went on the attack against those who might suggest otherwise. Reports are he recently sought to directly assure Wayne that he had nothing to do with the incident and vowed to help figure out who was behind it.

TMZ previously reported sources claim Birdman received a phone call on the night of April 26 informing him of the incident. Suspicions were raised when police uncovered the call was placed between two phones registered to Birdman.

Wayne and his onetime mentor have openly been feuding of late concerning the slow release of his "Tha Carter V" album and money Wayne insists is owed to him. More recently, Wayne has hinted he plans to leave the label, and when he does, he would be taking fellow heavyweights Nicki Minaj and Drake along with him.

Wayne recently released new songs via Jay Z's Tidal music subscription service, which prompted Birdman to file a $50 million suit naming Jay as a defendant.

In the suit, Cash Money charged Tidal is now resorting to a "desperate and illegal attempt to save their struggling streaming service."
