A woman from San Jose, CA was arrested on Monday after allegedly trying to poison customers at a local Starbucks by putting bottles of orange juice laced with rubbing alcohol in a store display, according to reports.

The woman, Ramineh Behbehanian, walked into the San Jose Starbucks in the 6000 block of Snell Avenue on Monday afternoon at around 3:45pm. A customer spotted her as she took two bottles of orange juice from her purse and placed them in the store's refrigerated beverage cooler.

The customer alerted Starbucks staff and when a staff member approached Behbehanian, she ran out of the store, got into her car and drove away. One of the store's employees followed the woman out to the parking lot and took down her license plate number as she drove off.

After inspecting the two bottles which were emanating a "toxic scent," Starbucks called 911 and the police and fire department showed up on the scene soon thereafter. Firefighters tested the contents of the bottles and concluded that the orange juice had been mixed with a "lethal quantity" of rubbing alcohol, according to Sgt. Jason Dwyer of the San Jose Police Department.

Dwyer commended the customer who had reported Behbehanian, saying "this person was heads-up enough and reported suspicious activity. I think that person saved lives by doing that."

Later on Monday night, San Jose police tracked Behbehanian down at her nearby home thanks to the license plate tip from the Starbucks employee. Behbehanian was arrested on the spot, charged, and may make a court appearance as early as Thursday of this week, according to reports.

Starbucks remained open for business as usual on Tuesday.
