Chloe Lukasiak bagged the coveted "Choice Dancer" award at the Teen Choice Awards on August 16. The "Dance Moms" alum beat her former rival Maddie Ziegler in the category, bringing back to life the fierce competition between the two young dancers.

The reality show dancer took home the surfboard, edging out a slew of famous talents including Ziegler, Stephen "tWitch" Boss, Allison Holker, Les Twins and Derek Hough.

According to Bustle, Lukasiak thanked her dance mentors and fans saying the award is "such an honor" during her acceptance speech. The "Choice Dancer" recognition is the teen's first solo nomination.

It wasn't new territory for Lukasiak and Ziegler to be up against each other, who gained recognition as two talented dancers who are often in direct competition in Lifetime's reality television show "Dance Moms." As two of the show's biggest starlets, the pair found themselves in constant competition, despite being good friends.

In an interview with OK! Magazine, Lukasiak talked about their nominations for the award, saying, "I've always competed against her my whole life. She was probably my biggest rival in the competition world."

Lukasiak, 14, and Ziegler, 12, fanned the flames of their old rivalry as dancers up for the same category at the Teen Choice Awards. But as Hollywood Life reported, when Lukasiak took to the stage for her speech, it wasn't her former dance rival that she called out in a subtle dig.

"I also wanted to say: to anyone who has ever been told that they can't do it, that they shouldn't do it, or they aren't good enough, ignore it," the dancer said to the Teen Choice Awards crowd. "Do it anyways and prove them wrong."

Fans of "Dance Moms" will remember the constant conflict between Lukasiak and coach Abby Lee Miller, which ultimately led to the teenage dancer leaving the show with her mother.

She left behind a hit television series, but the young dancer is enjoying herself as a star on the rise.

"My mom and I are definitely [a] lot happier and less stressed," she said, according to a report from Trib Live. "It's allowed me to take opportunities I maybe wouldn't have been able to otherwise." Although she could not reveal the details, she assured her fans that she has a few projects in the works.

Meanwhile, "Dance Moms" season six might not feature Miller and Ziegler. Rumors have been swirling of both stars exiting the show due to network disagreements and other opportunities, per a previous report from Latin Post.
