Famous Mexican singer Paquita la del Barrio is set to make an appearance in the Televisa telenovela "Amor de Barrio."

According TVnotas, the singer, born Francisca Viveros Barradas, will have a guest role on the Mexican telenovela, which airs on El Canal de las Estrellas.

"It looks like they need my services," joked the star. "I don't even know the telenovela, I never watch it, but here we are going to make fools of ourselves, but there we will be, God willing."

The singer, who's known for songs that challenge sexism against women, has been out of the spotlight for a while and is looking forward to working hard and acting again.

"I hope my participation helps, I don't know what I will be doing, I hope that the fans and the producer like it," said the 68-year-old. "As long as God gives me strength to work, until then, I will work."

Producers are hoping the presence of the singer will help the cast and production deal with the recent diva behavior from cast member Julieta Rosen, who reportedly declared she should receive special treatment while on set, reported Terra.

'We have barely been filming a week and she already started with weird and excessive requests," said a member of the production. "She complains about her makeup and her outfits. The cast was transported to a particular location and she didn't want to get in because the vehicles were appropriate for her, she gets annoyed at having to share transportation. And they weren't the luxury car of the year. She doesn't get tired of repeating that in her time things weren't done like that for stars like her and they were treated differently. In her time they were treated like stars."

"Amor de Barrio," a remake of the 1979 Mexican telenovela of the same name, also stars Renata Notni, Mane de la Parra, Ale Garcia and Pedro Moreno.
