The members of One Direction are going off in different directions, but the boys assured their loyal fans that the split is only temporary. After news broke of their impending hiatus, Niall Holton and Louis Tomlinson took to Twitter to clear up the speculations.

"Ok [sic] so lots of rumours going round," Holton said in a tweet on his official Twitter account. "We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year."

In another tweet, he expressed that One Direction is looking forward to more accomplishments in the future together by adding, "Don't worry though, we still have lots we want to achieve! Can't wait for you to hear all the new music we have for you and to perform."

His fellow One Direction heartthrob Tomlinson also made a statement on Twitter as a reaction to their legions of fans who were distraught at the thought of their favorite boy band disbanding.

"Your support is truly indescribable!" he posted in his account. "It's just a break :) we're not going anywhere!!"

One Direction's hiatus will begin in March 2016, giving them enough time to finish touring and release a new album before pursuing their individual careers.

Although the boys are excited to explore other opportunities individually, an insider told E! News that there are no plans to make next year's break-up permanent.

"They are great friends and fully support one another," the source said. "They are very aware that they are able to work on their own stuff as well as remain together. This is an exciting time for them creatively and as a group."

"They will remain together and plan to work together in the future," the source concluded. "They envision a future together but with the freedom to do other things as well."

These statements certainly come as welcome news to the band's dedicated fans who affectionately call themselves the "Directioners."

With the professional and personal lives of Niall, Louis, Liam Payne and Harry Styles taking off in recent months, there is plenty to keep the boys busy apart.

One Direction producer Julian Bunetta talked about the band's "much-deserved" break with Entertainment Weekly. "They've been doing something that no band has ever done - five albums, five tours, and a movie in five years," he pointed out. "It's important for them to do whatever they want as individual men and not have to make a democratic decision for once. I think it's important for them to do whatever their hearts desire. Maybe their hearts will lead them back together. I hope."
