Jimmy Fallon has just made his debut as host of "The Tonight Show" and took over after Jay Leno who held the reigns for 22 years. Fallon came from hosting the "Late Night" which he has been doing since 2009.

According to Yahoo, Fallon has emphasized that under his leadership, his brand of "Tonight Show" would be notably different from the show he did with "Late Night." Taking on this project, Jimmy will be filling big shoes as the show has been the gem of NBC for a number of years running. The late night rivals that Fallon will be going up against include Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Arsenio Hall, Conan O'Brien and Chelsea Handler, to name a few.

According to NY Times, Fallon is more than ready to take on the challenge. He is brimming with confidence with his experience at the "Late Night." Fallon says, "I'm supremely excited, But I'm older. I've grown up. I was nervous at the start of 'Late Night.' Now I know I can do this show."

According to reviews, Jimmy did well, it wasn't his best performance but no one can say it was a flop. A visibly nervous Fallon held his first show and had a lot of help from New York City, says Daily News. Even with big names like Will Smith and U2, it was the move from L.A. to New York that really helped him as it gave an impeccable backdrop and setting to his first night.  In addition, it allowed U2 to give a spectacular two-song performance at the top of the Rockefeller center.

The spot that has been vacated by Fallon will be filled by fellow "SNL" colleague Seth Meyers who will begin his hosting gin on Monday.

The 39-year-old Fallon first found stardom as a cast member and "Weekend Update" co-anchor on "Saturday Night Live." He left "SNL" in 2004 to pursue a movie career, but he was met with less success in that arena, writes Yahoo.
