"Dancing with the Stars" Season 21 is set to become even more exciting with the addition of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and kitchen star Paula Deen.

The DWTS official Twitter account confirmed the reports by cheekily tweeting, "We're not playing games with your heart - @NickCarter is on this season of #dwts!"

According to a report from Us Weekly, the DWTS team finally convinced the Backstreet Boys singer to expand his repertoire of moves from boy band choreography to ballroom dancing. The producers have been inviting Carter to join the hit television show for the past four seasons, and now he's ready to do some damage on the DWTS floor.

"I'm excited," he admitted in the latest issue of Us Weekly.

It wasn't just the team who convinced Carter to give the show a whirl. Fellow boy band star Joey Fatone of the now-defunct NSYNC was a contestant in Seasons 4 and 15, and he played a large role in persuading Carter to join.

"He talks about it all the time and I was really debating if I wanted to do it," Carter said about his former rival. "And he said, 'It's a great experience, it keeps you in shape and it'll teach you a lot of stuff.'"

Although Fatone was a member of former rival band NSYNC, Carter's competitive side was piqued by another past contestant of the show. His brother and fellow singer Aaron was a part of DWTS Season 9, and the younger Carter was able to impress to finish fifth place with pro dancer Karina Smirnoff.

"My brother was on it; he did great; and he's a great little dancer and entertainer so I saw it through his eyes throughout that experience," Carter explained. "And there's a lot of competitiveness in me and I think there's a little something inside of me that says, 'Okay, I'm going to go there and represent the Carter name and do even better than what he did!'"

Carter might have his work cut out for him if he wants to do better than his brother. Even though the Backstreet Boys often show off their slick dance moves in music videos and concerts, the youngest band member confessed he was not confident with his skills on the dance floor.

"Even though funny enough I've danced my entire life, I might have had a little insecurity on that end," he allowed. "I hope maybe I can become a better dancer! It'll be a great experience to learn how to ballroom dance."

Former Food Network staple Deen is also reportedly cast for the upcoming season of the dance competition, according to Variety. The star, who was released by the cable network in 2013 due to a "racially-charged" scandal, may be competing for the Mirror Ball Trophy along with previously announced contestants Bindi Irwin and Victor Espinoza.

The full roster of "Dancing with the Stars" Season 21 will be announced on September 2 on "Good Morning America." The show will officially begin on September 14 on ABC.
