JK Rowling, author of the acclaimed Harry Potter series, turned heads last year when it was revealed that she had published a new book under the penname, Robert Galbraith. Now she plans to release a sequel to The Cuckoo's Calling this summer.

The novel will be titled The Silkworm, and will once again feature protagonist Cormorman Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott as they investigate the mysterious murder of writer, Owen Quine. Publisher Little, Brown gives the thrilling synopsis:

"When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days (as he has done before) and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home.

"But as Strike investigates, it becomes clear that there is more to Quine's disappearance than his wife realizes. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were to be published, it would ruin lives: meaning that there are a lot of people who might want him silenced.

"When Quine is found brutally murdered under bizarre circumstances, it becomes a race against time to understand the motivation of a ruthless killer, a killer unlike any Strike has encountered before... "

The sequel will be sure to excite many fans of the first novel, which proved to be a sleeper hit last year. Rowling published the book under her new alter-ego Galbraith, hoping to continue writing the series free of the scrutiny her famous name would bring. But it came as a shock to many of her readers when her true identity was leaked by one of Rowling's contacts on Twitter. Rowling has since sued those responsible, donating the awarded damages to charity.

The Silkworm is scheduled to hit shelves on June 19 in the U.K., and June 24 in the U.S.
