Donald Trump charged voters $100 per person for entrance into his Boston area campaign event Friday evening, but before all the funds could so much as be deposited, he was already insisting the outing was in no way a fundraiser.

"This is not a fundraiser tonight, just so you understand," the Associated Press reports Trump told reporters at the sprawling Norwood property, where the event was being held. Would-be voters were forced to dig into their pockets in deference to all the signs hung across the entranceway, requesting that revelers "have cash ready or make checks payable to Donald J. Trump for President Inc."

Still, Trump reasoned the event was not what it clearly appeared to be, and all money raised would simply be used to defray the cost of the outing. Previously, Trump had vowed to self-fund his entire campaign. But with Friday's actions, he seemed to be taking a different stance than his pledge.

"I don't need anybody's money," he said in his announcement speech, adding, "I'm using my own money. I'm not using the lobbyists. I'm not using donors. I don't care. I'm really rich."

But more recently, Trump's tone has seem to change, and there's no denying a contributions page now adorns his website.

Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski admitted on Friday that the campaign has pocketed "tens of thousands in small-dollar donations" over the last two months. But he added the campaign had not made any efforts to solicit money and said contributions would remain "a very small portion" of the campaign's funds.

Later, Trump took to the microphone and again boasted of all the "millions of dollars" his campaign has been turning down since his run for the White House began. In his speech, he wasted little time lambasting Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.

He quickly launched into a personal attack against one of her top aides Huma Abedin, who is also married to former New York Rep. Anthony Weiner.

Besides railing that Abedin has shared classified information with her husband, he dismissively labeled Weiner "one of the great sleazebags of our time."
