Not everyone wants to be a part of Taylor Swift's long list of friends that consists of entertainers and the like -- Miley Cyrus says she rather spend her time with "real people who live real lives."

The "Wrecking Ball" singer tells the New York Times that while Tay Tay is gathering "musicians, actresses, models, entrepreneurs," she is trying not to be in the squad.

"None of my friends are famous and not because of any other reason than I just like real people who are living real lives, because I'm inspired by them," Miley said.

RadarOnline reports that the feeling is mutual and Taylor is "embarrassed" that she was ever friends with Miley.

It is unclear if Taylor ever invited Miley to be a part of her squad but apparently Ariana Grande is not allowed in the "Blank Space" singer's squad either.

Meanwhile, Miley is living life as a free soul as she continues to find herself. She says she discovered herself after founding a nonprofit organization for homeless and L.G.B.T. youth called Happy Hippie Foundation.

The former Disney star announced the release of her free album "Dead Petz" during the 2015 MTV Music Video Awards on Sunday. Just two years ago she released her platinum-selling "Bangerz" album.

"That's what I've got the luxury to do," Miley said. "I can just do what I want to do, and make the music I want to make."

"Dead Petz" cost about $50,000 to make while "Bangerz" was "a couple of million," the star revealed.

She was also confronted at the VMAs by Nicki Minaj over the controversy involving the hip hop diva's "Anaconda" video. Miley quickly brushed it off, congratulated Nicki and said the media can always twist celebrity's words.

Either way, Miley loves her life and says she does not see herself ever fitting into a mainstream mold.

Yet, "this music was not meant to be a rebellion," she said. "It was meant to be a gift."
