Apple plans to introduce new iPads at their event Wednesday. One of these tablets will be an update to the iPad mini and the other will be a brand new ultra-large iPad Pro, 9to5 Mac reports.

Also expected to be introduced at the event is iOS 9, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system. With iOS 9, a brand new feature will allow two apps to run side-by-side on the same screen simultaneously, Tech 2 reports.

On the iPad Pro, with the 12.9-inch screen, two full-sized portrait orientation apps can be run when the phone is put into landscape mode. This means two apps running at once without users straining their eyes to see them.

Other iPads, with smaller screens, will display reduced-size apps side-by-side. This means that text size and pictures will have to be shrunk to fit the two apps on the screen. The portrait orientation apps will be condensed so that two of them can fit on the iPad when in landscape orientation.

The iPad Pro is expected to be an awfully expensive tablet. Unlike other iPads, the iPad Pro will not be offered in a model with 16 GB of storage. Instead it will start at 64 GB. There will also be an even pricier 128 GB model.

The iPad Pro is set to be equipped with the brand new A9X processor from Apple. This chip is expected to be a big improvement from the A8X found in the iPad Air 2. Another feature expected on the iPad Pro is four front-facing speakers.

The high-end models of the iPad Pro with LTE chips will cost almost as much as the latest MacBooks. That means that buyers could be shelling out laptop prices, over $1,000 for a tablet.

Full pricing and specifications for the new iPads will be released Wednesday at the special Apple event. Stay tuned for more information.
