As Apple's smartphone and tablet sales have started to slow in the last few quarters, there is speculation that Apple is looking to expand its scope and focus on much bigger things. Apple has been buying a number of new technologies and one particularly interesting new lead can be found in the rumors which have been circulating this week of a meeting between Apple and electric car company Tesla. Many fans and eager beavers are getting excited over the possibility of an "iCar."

To rival Google's Google Glass, it only seems logical that Apple would venture into wearable technology. According to SF Gate, Apple could be looking into electric cars.

Forbes writes that one of the possible ways Apple's technology could be integrated in Tesla's cars would be though an interactive and digital dashboard, similar to the Tesla Model S that centersa round a 17-inch touch screen.

Tesla Founder and CEO Elon Musk confirmed with Bloomberg TV that they did have a meeting with Apple. Although Musk won't elaborate on the topic of the meeting, "We had conversations with Apple. I can't comment on whether those revolved around any kind of acquisition."

Although Musk wouldn't comment on the exclusive report in Sunday's Chronicle that he met with Apple's mergers and acquisitions chief Adrian Perica in Cupertino last spring, he did comment that an acquisition is "unlikely."

Although a partnership wasn't ruled out, "We need to stay super focused on achieving a compelling mass market electric car," said Musk. "And I'd be very concerned in any kind of acquisition scenario, whoever it is, that'd be become distracted from that task which has always been the driving goal of Tesla."

While it's fun to think about an iCar, Today comments on how Tesla would merge with the traditions of Apple. Today writes that the car, which would come in space grey, may be cheaper with a two-year contract, utilize Apple maps, integration of apps and a change of accessories.
