Disney soon plans to roll out their fifth installment of their long-running "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise with some hopeful new additions. With this, the studio also hopes to return to their original formula, as one of the main criticisms of the series has been that it got away from itself.

"Maze Runner" actress Kaya Scodelario has recently been announced to star in the upcoming film, and in an interview with Digital Spy, she was able to expand on the movie's new take.

"It [does have] a lot more of the first movie, that's what they wanted to bring it back to," Scodelario told Digital Spy. "[The producers] want to take it back to the beginning again. They wanted it to have this epic journey, and for it to make sense, and for it to tie things up, and also lead to new storylines."

This hints at a possible continuation of the franchise. "Pirates of the Caribbean'" has long since been one of Disney's most popular live action ventures.

Scodelario went on to offer some further details on her new character Carina Smyth.

"[Carina] is an astronomer, and she is an academic. She's fighting for the right to study at university, because women couldn't at that time," Scodelario explained. "So she's on her own journey - looking for the trident of Poseidon - and she has a diary with clues, and she encounters Jack Sparrow along the way, and he messes everything up. As he does. And it's fun!"

Along with Johnny Depp reprising his role as the iconic pirate Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush's Hector Barbossa, Orlando Bloom's Will Turner and Stephen Graham's Scrum have all been confirmed to return in "Pirates 5."

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" arrives in theaters on July 7, 2017.
