Several 2015 Miss Bumbum contestants caused some controversy on Sept. 15 when they visited the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro to take photographs.

Débora Oliver, from Sâo Paulo, Camila Gomes, who represents Minas Gerais, Daiana Nogueira, from Sergipe, and Thamara Amâncio, who represents Paraná and is currently ranked No. 1, all took the time to visit the famous Brazilian landmark.

However, it's not their visit that is controversial, but the fact they visited the religious sanctuary wearing bikinis and left little to the imagination, reported Globo.

Oliver shared several photos from the visit on her Instagram account. While the contestants can be seen wearing shorts for photos at the landmark, they removed the clothing for other snapshots.

The sight is visited by tourists from all over the world every year and while anyone is free to visit, the Miss Bumbum contestants were reportedly not authorized to take pictures that promote the competition at the location.

The press office of Christ the Redeemer said that the visit will be investigated by the legal sector of the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro. For any photo shoots to occur, by any form of media, permission needs to be requested from the press office.

Rebeka Francys, a contestant of last year's Miss Bumbum competition, who is now a dedicated Evangelical, said she hopes that the contestants will ask for forgiveness for their actions.

"I hope they will repent one day for all the exposure, just as I regret everything that I submitted myself to when I took part in that competition," said Francys. "I think this year the candidates will appeal more than usual ... you hardly hear about the contestants from previous years. If I could go back I would not have participated."

While the contestants haven't really commented on the controversial visit, Gomes did share a photo of the article, where Francys criticized the current contestants, on her Instagram account.
