Comic book fanboys will have something to rejoice about March 18 as Marvel Studios announced Thursday it will air a one-hour documentary, Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe, on the ABC Television Network.

The primetime special premiere will take the viewers inside Marvel Studios and reveal sneak peaks from its highly anticipated films Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The special will mainly focus on the development of Marvel Studios and its expanding cinematic universe that has made it the comic-book studio powerhouse is has become today.

Audiences will also get to see behind-the-scenes footage from all of the Marvel films so far as well as Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Marvel One-Shoots, which can normally be found on the studio's DVD releases.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has divided its slate of films into three phases, the first of which concluded in 2012 with the blockbuster hit The Avengers that followed the storylines from the films Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.

Phase Two was launched last summer with the release of Iron Man 3, and continued with Thor: The Dark World in November. The Captain America sequel, set for release on April 4, and Guardians of the Galaxy, scheduled on Aug. 1, will lead into the Avengers sequel and Phase Two conclusion in 2015.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which began production earlier this month, will see the return of the Marvel superheroes, plus some new ones, to face the super villain Ultron, played by James Spader. Joss Whedon is reprising his role as director and screenwriter to the sequel.

Marvel's third phase will kick-off only two months after the release of Ultron, with Ant-Man, starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas as the title role. Marvel also announced Thursday that Patrick Wilson would be joining the cast.

According to the fanboy news website Superhero Hype, Phase Three will continue into 2017 as Marvel Studios currently has three dates reserved for the unnamed films on May 6, 2016, July 8, 2016 and May 5, 2017.
