Actor Michael B. Jordan and supermodel Kendall Jenner were briefly rumored to be dating, but Jordan put the rumor to rest on Wednesday in a new interview.

The two celebrities were spotted leaving Rihanna's Met Gala after-party together in May. The sighting immediately sparked romance rumors.

In a new GQ interview, Jordan talked about being linked with the 18-year-old and why his social media followers didn't approve.

"It's the world we live in. They see white and black. I don't," Jordan told GQ. "Kendall's a friend of mine, you know. I don't know her, like, that well, but I know her enough."

Jordan cited many black fans as saying, "Oh, my god, he should have been with a black woman," and while some people may have an opinion on race, he doesn't live his life to make other people happy.

Regardless of the color of a woman's skin, Jordan said a serious relationship simply isn't possible for him right now. He is focused on his career. At a young age, he decided that once he wanted to be an actor, he'd devote all of his twenties to his work. He's 28, and there's still more career building to be done.

"The Boondocks" voice actor also said that he knows how to be in a relationship with a woman. The problem is, he isn't "the guy to give it to them right now."

"I understand what females want and need, you know. I'm good at that," he said, adding, "I'm emotionally unavailable. Until I find something that's so undeniable that I can't help myself."

Jordan admitted in the interview that many women probably don't agree with his agenda.

Jordan's "business before pleasure" mindset comes from growing up poor and the desire to take care of his family. He revealed that, as a child, his family slept in the kitchen with the oven door open to keep warm in the winter.

"I have to know that I gave everything I had to making my family okay," he said. "At the end of the day, that's all that matters to me is my family, bro. I come from nothing, so it's like my family, they came with me... I put everything I had into everything, so once they're good I can start living a little."
