The sophomore season for Fox hit DC drama "Gotham" started on Monday and now, the show has released an official red-band trailer for the theme of Season 2, "Rise of the Villains."

As stated in the trailer, the reporter on the show said, "I want to warn those of you watching, what you are about to see is very graphic."

As reported by Deadline, the trailer itself is the shocking glimpse at what the season will be like when some of Gotham's most infamous villains are about to be set loose. Unlike many other superhero universes, the Batman universe is darker and some might even say it is mostly intended for an adult audience given the extreme nature of the content present in the story.

Of course others might argue that since this show airs on a broadcast network that is subject to the fines and penalties of the FCC, a true red-band trailer for the content might be pushing the envelope a bit for Fox.

The trailer itself is a tongue-in-cheek red-band, which mostly plays to the audience with its shock value. But there are elements in the trailer that lead to situations played off-screen that some viewers might find to be a little too much. Of course, the greatest shock value has always been the "shark you cannot see."

The villains are all the tenants of Gotham's Arkham Asylum and they are ushered out by none other than a politician, Theo Galavan.

Present in the trailer is a character by the name of Jerome Valeska, who essentially has all the elements and characteristics of the Joker, just not the name. His laugh is one dead give away, but who is too say that he will not rise as the Joker at some point.
