Can I get an Amen up in here?

Recently, the Twittersphere has been buzzing about Son of God star Diogo Morgado, actor and former model, who is sinfully good looking and has caused quite a stir as to whether or not it's OK to check out Jesus.

While the story, which has been ingrained in many of us since birth, is about love, hope, compassion and sacrifice, this Son of God is rather distracting with his six-pack, chiseled bod, face of an angel and flowing locks of hair.

Well, if you're asking me, if this Jesus told me 'I've got two tickets to Nazareth,' I would pack my bags and leave tonight... it's also been a while since I've been to confession, maybe now would be a good time!

As if Morgado, who was a good fit to "portray both the lion and the lamb" couldn't get any cuter, he has a tender take on the story of Jesus Christ, telling Fox News Latino that he thinks it's the "greatest love story ever."

The 6'3" 34-year-old actor, who starred on the History Channel's epic mini-series The Bible and Son of God (as well as ABC's Revenge), helped the series become a huge success, drawing 10 million viewers on the History Channel.

Son of God, co-produced by Mark Burnett, creator of Survivor and The Voice, and his wife, actress Roma Downey (Touched by an Angel) is a "re-edition of the greater 10-hour miniseries The Bible."

The film, which was released on Feb. 28, did really well in the box office this weekend -- it opened in second place with an estimated $26.5 million, far more than the $15-20 million that was expected, according to Moviefone

So how does Morgado feel about going viral on the Internet for his good looks and being dubbed "Hot Jesus" on social media?

"There would be no 'Hot Jesus' without people watching the show, so I think it's a reaction of the success of the show," he told Fox News Latino. "Last week, we got this wonderful guy doing a scene of Jesus and Peter in Lego ... I was so happy. I was like 'this is another manifestation of appreciation and love for whatever we are doing here.'"

"For me it's the greatest love story ever," he added. "Hopefully that is what people will get out of it."

Well his female audience is getting a lot of it as he's being compared to the likes of Hollywood hunk, Brad Pitt -- essentially a Portuguese Brad Pitt.

"It's a compliment, obviously," he explained to The New York Times, "but I don't want that to take away from what we tried to achieve. The best story is the story that gets to the most people. If the message of Jesus was love, hope and compassion, and I can bring that to more people by being a more appealing Jesus, I am happy with that."

On the other hand, some critics and historians alike aren't too keen on Jesus Christ being fair-skinned, claiming that it's not an accurate portrayal of the Son of God.

"His looks will surely tax the patience of historians who say that Jesus, as a Jew of first-century Palestine, was probably more dark skinned than the fair-faced Mr. Morgado, who early on inspired the Twitter hashtag #hotjesus."

The story of the Son of God is deeply rooted in Morgado's past, and he's thrilled to be a part of the modern-day version of it.

"I grew up as a Christian, so for me it was something really, really big," he said. "The last time that the whole life of Jesus was on screen was 50 years ago ... so there (are) a lot of kids out there, there is a young generation that doesn't have a visual reference of the life of Jesus."

Well, the film's producers, in addition to social media, have done a good job in getting the attention of younger generations thus far, and the consensus says that the visual is quite appealing.
