She is more confident, comfortable and proud than ever before -- and she wants to be a role model get the same message across. Pop star Demi Lovato cannot come up with a more brilliant way to express herself. The bodacious brunette loves her body exactly for what it is and she's brave enough to show it raw.

In her latest stint with Vanity Fair, the 23-year-old "Cool For The Summer" singer-songwriter showed her naked self in an impromptu photo shoot and set out three main rules: no make-up, no light effects and no clothes.

The out-loud feminist said in an interview that she believed being confident is being comfortable with one's skin. She also said that being in a naked photo shoot is an unexpected decision that made her feel comfortable with her own body.

"It's empowering, and it shows other women that you can get to a place where you can overcome the obstacles of body-image issues," Lovato said.

The pop star also admitted her past experiences as a teen, saying that she felt horrible about herself and had hated "every inch of [her] body".

According to Vanity Fair photographer Patrick Ecclessine, the spontaneous photo shoot took place one day after Lovato's great-grandfather, who she has considered one of the most important persons in her life, passed away. Lovato approached the photographer with a heavy heart and without make-up, saying that she wants a bold photoshoot that ultimately expresses her identity.

In an emotionally-drained state, the songwriter said that she realized life is too short and thought the idea of baring naked is the best way to express what her latest album, Confidence, says about women, including herself.

"I'm about to launch an album that finally represents who I truly am. How do I embrace this new chapter in my life? How do I really walk the walk? What does it mean to be confident?" Lovato said to Ecclessine. "It means letting go, being authentic, saying I don't give a f*ck and this is who I am. I want to show the side of me that's real, that's liberated, that's free," she added.

This was not the first time Lovato had been outspoken with her confidence. In an interview with Billboard, she opens up about feeling sexy for what she have and that she feels great to be confident with the skin she is in.

"I'm wanting to share that with the world and showing everyone how you can go from being very insecure with body image issues to feeling so proud of your body that you want to show it to the world," Lovato said.

The pop star recently shared a sneak-peek of her latest single, Confident and her album will be available for purchase on October 16.
