Ever since the untimely death of Eddie Guerrero in 2005, WWE had a hard time finding the next great Latino wrestler with Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio doing a wonderful job filling in, per Bleacher Report. But ever since Del Rio and Mysterio left WWE in 2014 and 2015, respectively, the company is still looking for the next Hispanic wrestler that could be a huge draw in the big Latin market, as reported by Wrestling Inc.

According to PW Insider Elite via Wrestling Inc, there are a lot of backstage talks on possibly bringing back Del Rio to the company to become the top Hispanic star. The report also notes that there are already ideas for him if he comes back.

Last month, the WWE looked forward to re-signing former U.S. and Intercontinental champion Carlito, but the talks were stalled. The Wrestling News Observer, via Wrestling News, stated that Carlito declined the offer as he deemed it too low. According to Carlito, he had made good money in a lighter calendar compared to the WWE's brutal schedule.

As for the 38-year-old former World Champion, he appeared with AAA in Mexico and Lucha Underground in the El Rey Network as Alberto El Patron. With the second of season of Lucha Underground confirmed, it is very unlikely that Del Rio re-signs with the WWE, per Wrestling Inc.

Another factor is the way he was fired by the company due to unprofessional conduct following an altercation with an employee, who allegedly made a racist joke, per WWE.com. But in a recent interview with Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc, Del Rio revealed that he is now in good terms with his former employer.

"Oh, we're good. We shook hands, we talked about what happened. They apologized, I apologized. We're good right now. I'm pretty happy with what I'm doing now," he said. Another factor that he mentioned that could prevent him from re-joining WWE is the schedule.

"The schedule in that company is brutal. I was doing over 250 appearances per year, I was never home. At the moment, I'm working everywhere they want to see me, and I have the opportunity to spend time with my family. I get to enjoy my kids, I'm at home 4-5 days a week, I do 1-2 shows per week," Del Rio revealed.

As for his current status, the man now known as Alberto El Patron is very happy with AAA and Lucha Underground and has no plans in going back to the WWE but does not rule out a return in the future. "I'm happy, I don't have plans to go back, but like they say, 'never say never,'" El Patron added.
