It has been almost two years since Georges St-Pierre stepped into the Octagon when he defeated Johny Hendricks via a controversial split decision at UFC 167. GSP officially announced that he is "stepping away" from the sport and vacating the welterweight belt last December 2013, as reported by MMA Junkie.

"I've been fighting a long time at a high level, a lot of pressure and criticizing. I've decided I needed to take some time off. The UFC is a business. I'm vacating my title out of respect for the other competitors," St-Pierre said.

UFC President Dana White was very supportive of him. She even hinted that "Rush" has completely retired from MMA. "I'm sorry. GSP's rich, he's hanging out, he's living the good life. He's made a lot of money, he's accomplished a lot of things, and I don't see him ever coming back," White said during a Q&A session in Australia as quoted by FOX Sports.

But it seems a lot of MMA fans are going to be excited as St-Pierre told Reseau de Sports in Montreal that he is starting to feel the itch to make a comeback to the UFC. "I'm starting to get the feeling, more and more, to come back," GSP said in French as translated by MMA Fighting.

"I watch the fights to see what's going on in my division, and I'm staying in shape. It's like a knife that I have to keep sharp just in case I ever decide to jump back in the mix. It's not for sure that it won't happen in 2015, but I'm not sure yet," he added.

MMA Fighting adds that the 34-year-old fighter has started training again after suffering a torn ACL last year. The Canadian is close to 100 percent healthy and looks like he is in fighting shape.

If he ever comes back, St-Pierre has a lot of options, and Rant Sports has listed some possible opponents for him in the future. Up and coming fighters like Tyron Woodley and Matt Brown are good opponents while hardcore MMA fans want him to fight current champion Robbie Lawler, a rematch with Johny Hendricks or even a super fight against Anderson "The Spider" Silva.

According to the Fighting Matrix All-Time Rankings, GSP is the greatest UFC Welterweight Champion of all time and the greatest MMA fighter ever. He has a record of 25 wins and two defeats, with eight wins coming by knockout and five via submission, per Sherdog.
