World-famous author George R.R. Martin confirms that "The Skin Trade" TV project, based on his previously written novella, will not get in the way of writing "The Winds of Winter," the sixth book of his famous saga "A Song of Ice and Fire."

The New Jersey-born writer was elated to announce on his live journal that one of his literary works got noticed by Cinemax, a sister company of HBO that airs the hit TV series "Game of Thrones." The show is based on the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series.

"I am very excited to announce the Cinemax (HBO's sister company) has optioned the television rights to "The Skin Trade," the offbeat "werewolf noir" novella I penned back in the late 80s. The deal is closed, and Cinemax has ordered the pilot script. This being Hollywood, of course, you never know where things will end... but if they like the script, we'll shoot a pilot, and if they like that, hey, who knows, maybe we'll get a series on the air," the 67-year-old writer wrote.

However, despite his excitement on this new endeavor, he limits himself by not participating in writing the script for any episode of this hopefully new series.

"And no, while I would have loved to write the script and run the show myself myself, that was never really in the cards. I have this book to finish. You know the one," Martin confirmed.

This revelation may lead to a collective sigh of relief from his ardent fans, who are already patiently waiting for the release of the sixth book for several months now.

An Empty Iron Throne Theory

Meanwhile, Finn Jones, who portrays Loras Tyrell on "Game of Thrones" offers his theory of what other twists can happen in the book series while at the New York Comic-Con this year, IDigitalTimes reported.

The actor feels that the Iron Throne will just be an empty seat. Jones thinks that a "great war" between the Ice and Fire factions will destroy them, and that this battle will wipe out Westeros, too, and ultimately "dissolve the Iron Throne because it has Valyrian Steel." He also predicts that it will be very tragic resulting to massive deaths, but in the end, Bran, Brienne, Tyrion will eventually "bring peace back to the realm."

Could Jones' theory be in line with what the great Martin has envisioned as a "bittersweet" ending for his book, per Observer?

"The Winds of Winter" is expected to be released before the sixth season of "Game of Thrones," noted Entertainment Weekly.
