"Fifty Shades of Grey" star Dakota Johnson has revealed that she does not care what people think about the film which came out in February.

Johnson admitted that she doesn't care if people laugh at the adaptation because she tried to inject her character with some humor. The actress told Elle magazine in a recent interview, "I needed Anastasia to be funny."

The actress added, "If you can't laugh during a movie like that, you're f**ked. Literally. You need to have something that everyone can relate to."

Johnson has been outspoken about the film in the past few months as she has been interviewed by The Ellen Show and at the Venice Film Festival about the production of the film.

While there is no confirmation on when the film will start shooting, the studio suggests that it will begin in January.

Johnson has been busy throughout the past few months as she was out promoting her film "Black Mass," which is currently in theaters and garnering Oscar buzz for Johnny Depp. She was also at the Venice Film Festival, where she was promoting her new film "A Bigger Splash," which also stars Ralph Fiennes and Tilda Swinton.

The actress will next be seen in "How to Be Single," which is slated for Valentine's Day and co-stars Alison Brie and Rebel Wilson. Johnson told Elle about the film, "I play a girl who moves to New York under the guise of needing to be independent. It's about the ebb and flow of finding yourself and finding love and why does it matter."

"Fifty Shades Darker" will be out in February 2017 and is slated to also star Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Rita Ora.

The film will be released through Universal and James Foley will direct the work. "Fifty Shades Darker" will be followed by the third installment "Fifty Shades Freed."
