In the upcoming episode of the hit ABC show “Quantico,” fans will get a chance to see a flash back of Alex (Priyanka Chopra) going out on her first undercover assignment, as well as a flash forward that shows the now hunted FBI agent deciding to tell her side of the story to the world.

A teaser for Episode 5 of Season 1, called “Found," features Alex describing her desperate situation, saying, "If it were up to the FBI, I’d be dead already.”

As it juggles timelines surrounding a graphic, fictional terrorist attack, “Quantico” is a show that fully engages the mood of terror and uncertainty that pervaded New York after the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Executive Producer Joshua Safran, whose past work includes shows like “Smash” and “Gossip Girl,” was in New York when the attack happened, and he has let the experience of that day inform him artistically. According to The Wrap, Safran explained he has never let go of that memory.

“9/11 was so impactful to me,” the producer said. “You didn’t even have to be in New York to have that kind of reaction. People are obviously still grappling with it and moving through it and talking about it."

Safran went on to describe his new show as “a way to sort of dissect that [experience].”

Bringing Chopra, an actress already famous in India, onto his project led Safran to reorganize his thinking about the show. According to Safran, he first imagined the character of Alex Parrish as a jaded and brooding person. But after working with Chopra, the protagonist has become a vulnerable yet resourceful survior.

The next episode of “Quantico” airs Sunday, Oct. 25 on ABC.
