Newcomer Pom Klementieff is set to grab a major role in the sequel to the 2014 hit "Guardians of the Galaxy."

Remember when "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn went on Facebook to hint about another addition to the team? According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Asian actress was brought in to do several "chemistry reads" and was eventually selected for a "mystery part" in the follow-up film.

Klementieff is relatively unknown though she did appear in Spike Lee's recent "Oldboy." Born in Quebec City, Klementieff has made a living in France in such films as "Apres Lui" and "Loup." Other work includes appearances in "The Easy Way," "Borderline," "Sleepless Night," "Silhouettes," "Radiostars," "Porn in the Hood," "Paris a tout prix."

She is set to appear in the upcoming "Hacker's Game."

Aside from Klementieff's casting, it was also revealed that Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey rejected the villain role in the upcoming movie.

There was also a report that there is a casting call in Atlanta for men and women. The men are expected to be ages 18 to 65 and will play aliens. The men are supposed to be "tough, rough and some biker types, quirky types, unique features, long necks, crooked/unique noses, imperfect teeth and amputees."

The women being sought out are supposed to be ages 18-50.

The first "Guardians of the Galaxy" was a huge hit, amassing over $774 million worldwide ($333 million domestically).

Gunn will return to direct the sequel which will star Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Sean Gunn as Kraglin and Benicio del Toro as The Collector.

The next movie is slated to open on May 5, 2017.
