Saturday’s chance to make big money playing Powerball is here.

The grand prize is currently at $127 million, with a cash value of $79.7 million.

Last Wednesday’s winning numbers were 4, 54, 56, 62, and 63, and the Powerball was 10. There were regular 565,719 winners, and $3,856,124 in non-jackpot money was won.

There are actually nine ways to play Powerball. The odds of winning the jackpot are one in 293 million. The odds of simply doubling your money on a $2 ticket are one in 38.

Whatever strategy comes into play when playing Powerball, the game is still all about chance.

Nobody knows this more than a recent Powerball winner in Burbank, California. As KFOR reports, a 57-year-old Powerball player named Pat Tucker owes his new fortune to a cashier's mistake.

Every week Tucker purchased two Mega Millions lottery tickets at the same 7-Eleven in Burbank. Last week the clerk accidentally sold Tucker a $2 Powerball ticket instead. Rather than tossing the ticket, Tucker held on to it, and when the numbers were drawn he was stunned to realize that he had matched five out of the six numbers for a total win of $380,744.

The lucky winner says he plans on using his new cash to fix up his house and live a more stress-free life.

In other Powerball news a woman named Hai Huynh also matched five numbers out of the six numbers on a ticket she purchased in San Diego. As a FOX affiliate reports, Huynh has claimed $644,506.

Winning big at Powerball is obviously a life-changing event that typically calls for a lot of celebrating.

But, according to Forbes, one of the most important things a new winner could do is just lay low and avoid sudden lifestyle changes. Outside of this, the article advises lottery winners to pay off all debts, live within a budget and plan charitable gifts.
