Eugenio Derbez will play his first English-language leading role with "How to Be a Latin Lover," his follow-up to the box office hit "Instructions Not Included."

Variety is reporting that the film will be shot in March 2016 and will be produced by Derbez and his producing partner Benjamin Odell. Actor-director Ken Marino is set to direct the film. Derbez told Variety that he opted out of directing because it was his first lead role in English, so he decided not to take the risk.

The script was written by Chris Spain and Jon Zack and film is slated to be shot in Mexico and Vancouver. The film is part of the deal that Pantelion and Derbez signed after "Instructions Not Included" broke box office records for the company.

That movie went on to make $44.5 million at the U.S. box office and to date is the company's biggest hit. It also became Mexico's biggest hit as well making $46 million. Aside from his work on the upcoming film, Derbez has already scheduled his next directorial effort entitled "Un Cuento Chino," which will be a remake of the Argentine hit.

"How to Be a Latin Lover" will tell the story of an ageing Mexican Romeo (Derbez), who is suddenly thrown out by his rich lady lover and forced out into the real world.

The film has not begun casting but according to Variety there are a number of roles including an American Gigolo and a number of roles for veteran actresses.

Pantelion has been active in the past few weeks as the company has announced a number of projects. Most recently it announced that it had acquired rights to Mexico's Oscar submission "600 Miles." The film is expected for release on Dec. 4 and is among Mexico's most acclaimed films in years.

"How to Be a Latin Lover" currently has no release date but as production gets closer more news is sure to come.
