On last night's (March 26) episode of American Idol, the Top 9 sang their hearts out under the theme, "I'm with the Band." The remaining contestants covered some of the best rock hits in their own unique renditions -- so who will be voted off tonight?

Alex Preston sang the No Doubt hit, "Don't Speak." During his taped segment of pre-performance, he admitted he likes that the band is onstage and believes it will bring a great energy. Although Keith Urban demanded more of an edge from him, Preston was able to deliver a quite captivating performance with his very different, fresh version of the original.

Majesty Rose covered "Shake It Out" by Florence and the Machine. Compared to her last two performances, she seemed to be more comfortable, and the judges certainly could see that. "That's the Majesty that I love," said Jennifer Lopez. Harry Connick Jr. added that Rose is actually getting better at connecting with the audience. However, Urban had to disagree because he believed that the energy of the crowd is a bit too catching with her and as a result, she loses the plot.

As expected, Dexter Roberts performed a country song, "Boondocks" by Little Big Town. Connick Jr. did not hesitate to tell Roberts what he has been telling him so far -- that his performances are a bit generic and he is not really making them his own.

Malaya Watson sang The Beatles' "The Long and Winding Road." The song started softly, gradually building up with crescendo. Harry Connick Jr. praised that Watson is the "most consistently improving," and that she listens and absorbs everything that the judges say to her.

Sam Woolf performed his acoustic cover of "Hey There Delilah" by Plain White T's. Lopez commented that even if he does not have any "Delilah" to sing about, he needs to at least pretend. In other words, he needs to be less timid and connect more with the audience. Connick Jr. also criticized Woolf for "one-dimensional reading of the words."

Jessica Meuse covered Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon." Her music choice well complimented her, and she performed without her guitar. Harry Connick Jr. told her that it was his favorite performance from Meuse.

C.J. Harris performed "If It Hadn't Been for Love" by Steel Drivers. Although his musical technique was on point, he failed to pull in the crowd with his singing. Keith Urban said he likes Harris as a person, however he needs to differentiate the sound of expressing versus the feeling of expressing.

Caleb Johnson sang the Led Zeppelin classic, "Dazed and Confused." He gave such an enthusiastic performance and the audience was right there with him. Urban thought that Johnson fulfilled the night's theme by being "with the band," instead of the band being with the singer. The other judges also liked his energetic performance.

Jena Irene performed the Evanescence hit, "Bring Me To Life." Starting on her piano, she gave an amazing performance with her own completely different version of the song by switching up the original melodies.
