A leading provider of information and business services to companies operating across Latin America has named Odebrecht's Marcela Drehmer as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Year in Brazil.

According to The Latin Tech Group, which publishes content such as the Latin Trade magazine and Latin Business Chronicle, Drehmer led a "dynamic and distinguished" career that dated back to the mid-1990s with the OPP Petroquimica, an Odebrecht Company. The position resulted in Drehmer to the top finance role with the company.

Odebrecht is a Brazilian-based organization serving sectors in engineering and construction, investments in infrastructure and energy, industry, and supporting institutions. Drehmer started the CFO at Odebrecht in 2013 and oversees many business moves.

"We are pleased to present this award to her, the first woman to receive this accolade," said Latin Trade Group CEO Rosemary Winters at the Latin Trade CFO Event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where Drehmer accepted the award.

Drehmer, while CFO at Odebrecht, handled an $8 billion deal that gave the company the administration of Rio de Janeiro's Galeao airport. The deal has been touted as the largest airport transaction since Ferrovial paid $17 billion for an 88 percent stake in the operator of Heathrow Airport in London in 2006. The Odebrecht deal was also the second-largest deal across Latin America since Oi's acquired Portugal Telecom.

"[Drehmer] heads the operation of one of the largest companies in the region, with reach in 35 countries and four continents, diversified in construction, transportation, agriculture, energy, manufacturing, mining, among other industries, with projects that have tremendous significance for the recipient regions," said The Latin Trade Group's Executive Editor Santiago Gutierrez.

According to Gutierrez, Drehmer led an "orderly, disciplined, and principled" growth development for Odebrecht. The Odebrecht CFO, for example, also managed a $20 billion worldwide investment plan for the next three years.

She has had a distinguished career, and we are delighted to honor her," Gutierrez added.

Although the Latin Tech CFO Forums are private events, it does offer fellow CFOs, finance directors, and treasures, to name a few, an opportunity to be engaged in "high-level" peer group discussions. The forum also provides CFOs insight on potential challengers domestically and internationally.
