Seventeen people were shot on Monday after a gunfight during a music video recording at a New Orleans city park.

USA Today reports that authorities are searching for at least two gunmen who were involved in the shooting at Bunny Friend Park in the city's Upper Ninth Ward, although the number of potential shooters is likely higher.

According to authorities, the incident occurred after a second-line parade by the Nine Times Social & Pleasure Club. Authorities say that there may have been two groups present at the park, one coming from the parade and the other shooting a music video.

At some point the two groups began firing at one another.

According to CNN, 17 people were injured in the shootout. All victims were sent to nearby hospitals for treatment, and are reportedly in stable condition.

Reports estimate the number of people present at the scene to be between 300 and 500. Police are currently searching for suspects, though no witnesses have come forth.

Detectives are also searching for possible surveillance evidence of the incident.

"At the end of the day it's really hard to police against a bunch of guys who decide to pull out guns and settle disputes with 300 people between them," said Mayor Mitch Landrieu at a news conference.

WWL-TV interviewed Kawandra Hayney, whose 14-year-old daughter was struck during the altercation. According to Hayney, she and her daughter were driving from the park when a group of people came by shooting. Bullets hit the vehicle and her daughter was once in her knee and five times in her backside.

"I saw the police coming, and I ran over to them," said Hayney.

Landrieu and Police Superintendent Michael Harrison also visited a 10-year-old victim in the hospital, who told them he wanted to grow up to join the army.

Authorities are calling for witnesses to come forward.

"If you want to take back your community, you have to help us," Landrieu said. "I need everyone to step up if you want to make this city a city of peace."
