"I'm Batman!" Batman, the hero, the villain, and the vigilante is celebrating 75 years in existence this year.

The birth of Batman began in 1939 under the Detective Comics #27. Since then, Batman has been immortalized in more comics, animation, TV shows and films, toys, merchandising, and Batman characters cosplay. It is one of the most globally recognized icons.

DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. have announced a variety of celebrations for Batman. They include a new and special art gallery centered around the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight video game; new animated films and shorts; a "Batman Day," and much more, Newsarama reported.

As for the graphic novels/comics, there is an expected new version of the Detective Comics #27 that will be written by well-known, within the comic book community, Brad Meltzer, and drawn by Bryan Hitch. And later in the Spring, DC will be releasing a weekly Batman series titled "Batman Eternal," featuring, of course, Batman, Bat-girl, and Robin, among others, MTV News reported.

In April, there are two animated shorts, one from Bruce Timm, which will likely be a reflection of Batman through the years, and another animated short from Darwyn Cooke, who will center on a more futuristic Batman Beyond version of the character.

Also in April, there is the animated film Justice League: War; then, by May/June, another animated film will be released, titled Son of Batman. In August/September there is an expected animated film, based off the video game Batman: Assault on Arkham.

In July, at the Comic-Con International: San Diego, there is to be "The Cape/Cowl/Create" art exhibit. It will feature contemporary artists painting on a cape and cowl, designed by Asher Levine, of the Batsuit based on the Batman: Arkham Knight video game.

Mark your calendars, Batman Day is on Wednesday, July 23. DC will be partnering with comic book retailers, bookstores, and libraries for special celebrations. A free Batman comic give-away is expected.

And in the fall, there is Gotham, a TV series where it will tell the story of a younger Commissioner Gordon, Batman's ally and friend. A young Bruce Wayne is expected to appear. Most of the principal cast has been selected, Entertainment Weekly reported.
