Sunny days on "Sesame Street" will be leaving public broadcasting and joining premium cable channel HBO this winter with a newly announced premiere date for the classic children's show.

According to Deadline, HBO has announced that "Sesame Street" has been scheduled to premiere on the network on Jan. 16, 2016.

The original series will be wrapping up its 45-year run on free public broadcasting network PBS this year and joining the premium cable network HBO with some notable changes in the cast, format and music.

The first major change to the series will be the length of the episodes. It will change from a one-hour show to a half-hour hour show on HBO.

There will also be a new segment introduced on the show called "Smart Cookies," which will be hosted by the famous Cookie Monster. The basic theme for the segment will be to teach kids "a Smart Cookie has to stop and think things through."

This will also be accommodated by an updated set for the show and a few departures from the classic layout that kids and adults are so used to.

The songs that kids are used to hearing for the show are also going away and being replaced with new music. That includes the opening and closing credits that have long been a staple for the classic PBS show.

As for the new people on the show, it will now introduce Nina (Suki Lopez), who is a Hispanic woman that will interact with the many furry creatures in the show and provide a positive role model for young viewers far and wide. She will help the characters solve their daily problems and find answers to their questions.

Nina will be replacing the longtime fan-favorite Sonia Manzano who announced her retirement from the show earlier this year following a 45-year run since the show debuted.

The producers for the show, Sesame Workshop, will be producing 35 all-new episodes for HBO every year, and following a nine-moth waiting period, those same shows will then air again on PBS. While the show was with PBS, they produced 53 episodes a year.
