Apple has not officially killed the iPhone 6c yet.

The company developed the 5c to provide a cheaper version of the iPhone 5 in the last generation, and many Apple followers assumed the company would do the same thing with the iPhone 6. After some talk this would not happen, rumors now indicate the iPhone 6c is still possibly in the works.

The iPhone 6c may come out some time in 2016, Tech Radar reports. The 4-inch model of the iPhone 6 could either be released in February or in mid-2016.

IHS analyst Kevin Wang has predicted that the iPhone 6c will come out in mid-2016. Wang's prediction seems the most logical, but some are predicting an even earlier release.

Anonymous employees at Foxconn, where the iPhone devices are manufactured, have been quoted as saying that the iPhone 6c will be released as early as February 2016.

However, Wang's prediction for sometime in the middle of 2106 makes sense. Apple holds its WWDC event in June every year, which would be a great venue for the company to announce a new phone.

The iPhone 6c would likely steal most of its specs from the iPhone 6. It would look very similar to the iPhone 5c, but it could have slightly curved edges, just like the iPhone 6.

Big changes from the iPhone 6 to the iPhone 6c would likely include the screen size and the materials. Instead of a 4.7-inch screen, the iPhone 6c would have a 4-inch screen. The body on the iPhone 6c would also likely use plastic instead of metal to cut down on costs.

The processor inside the iPhone 6c will probably be the same as the iPhone 6, the A8 chip. While the A8 chip is pretty powerful, it is nowhere near the brand new A9 chip used in the iPhone 6s.

The iPhone 6c is rumored to come equipped with both NFC and Touch ID. This means that owners of the cheaper phone could still use Apple Pay and unlock the phone with their fingerprint.

At the moment, the only way to get a 4-inch screen from Apple is by purchasing either the iPhone 5s or the iPhone 5c. The iPhone 6c would allow more advanced features, while retaining the 4-inch screen.
